Roy Hill Debottlenecking Project – Slurryflex CLX Bends
Roy Hill’s engineering team was looking for alternatives to rubber-lined steel elbows after years of frustration from bandaging leaking, fast-wearing piping in the process plant. They wanted a solution that would last longer and could withstand the coarse, highly turbulent iron ore slurry.
We suggested they look at ceramic-lined mining hose for this purpose. It offers strong abrasion resistance combined with the impact absorption and dispersion benefits of mining hose.
The team decided to trial pre-formed Slurryflex CLX bends with tiles embedded 360° in the pipe. This is an excellent option for turbulent slurry applications because it provides wear resistance through the entire hose.
Our Brisbane manufacturing team built more than 120 custom Slurryflex CLX bends for the project and delivered them to site for installation.
We typically see the CLX hose last at least 6x longer than rubber-lined piping in this application. So we look forward to seeing the Roy Hill team experience less downtime, more throughput, and no more leaking pipework.
