Riverside Marine – Heavy Duty Pinch Valves for Dredging Operation
Our valve team loves to find ways to make life easier for our customers.
In 2022, we helped Riverside Marine redesign and build new pinch valves for their dredging operations.
Exposure to sea water, sand and salty air had corroded their old valves to the point where it was almost impossible to open and close them.
It was frustrating, hard work and slowing down their operations.
We reviewed the original specs and recommended they make a few changes when it came to upgrading their valves:
- Better corrosion protection: the original light pattern valve frames were no match for the extremely corrosive environment. Our specialists recommended beefing up the frames to a heavier steel for longer life.
- Moving part protection: Salt build up on the stem and internal components made the valve difficult to operate. The new design has a spindle cover and sealed bellows to protect the stem, gearbox, and internal parts.
- Operator friendly: The original valve handwheel was in an awkward position. We repositioned the handwheel, so their crew no longer had to climb or bend over guardrails to open and close the valve.
The team in our Perth workshop built and tested six, heavy duty valves and fitted them with Slurryflex mining hose sleeves.
We’re confident they’ll last longer and keep their operations flowing smoothly.
