They chose an 18-metre spool because it could span the distance up the ROM wall without the need for joins. And with Abrasiguard polymer lining, it will easily cope with the abrasive iron ore going up to the ROM pad.
As the only manufacturer in Australia who can build 18-metre-long lined spools, we custom made this DN400 pipe in our Brisbane manufacturing facility, complete with collars on the outside.
The heavy-duty lugs allow chains to secure it on the incline. And the Victaulic grooved ends mean it will connect seamlessly with the other pipework on site.
For this project, the customer requested the external surface be left unpainted because it was more economical.
