Ranger Uranium Mine – Corrosion Resistant Hose for Tailings Dam
In 2014, design engineer Hatch and contractor Hall Contracting engaged us to manufacture and supply dredge hoses for the tailings dam at the Ranger uranium mine.
We worked with Hatch to develop the specifications for the hose to withstand the highly acidic tailings dam water.
The team in our Brisbane factory manufactured DN550, double carcass Slurryflex DG dredge hose with pressure control valves. The flexibility of the self-floating hose allowed for dredging boat movement and stainless steel, flanged ends gave corrosion resistance.
Over the five-year project, we supplied close to 300m of self-floating dredge hose to dredge more than 26.8 million tonnes of uranium tailings.
ERA uses the tailings in the rehabilitation of former mine pits on the site.
