Tropicana Gold Mine – Longer Lifespan for Ball Mill Piping Upgrade

In 2020, the maintenance superintendent at AngloGold Ashanti’s Tropicana gold mine called us to help increase the lifespan of the discharge piping in the milling area.

The rubber-lined spools were only lasting six months, which meant his team were having to shut the plant to fix or replace pipework.

We recommended upgrading to Abrasiguard slurry piping. It has a hard-wearing polymer lining that’s ideal for milling and grinding areas due to its excellent abrasion, corrosion, and impact resistance.

Today, the team is thrilled with how the pipework is performing. Two years on, they’ve continued to reorder Abrasiguard for planned shutdowns.

For the superintendent and his maintenance team, being able to ‘set and forget’ is a relief. They have freed up time – and budget – to focus on improvements in other areas of the plant.
