Flying Fox Nickel Mine – Victualic Package for Paste Backfill Plant
Western Areas’ Flying Fox underground nickel mine produces some of the highest grade nickel in the world. The mine is 100km east of Hyden in the WA Wheatbelt and operates at depths of 1.2km.
Paste is a critical part of the underground operations. It’s used in the site’s stoping process for backfill before excavation of nearby stopes.
In 2014, we worked with the Western Areas project team to supply a Victaulic piping system for the paste reticulation. Victaulic is the preferred system for paste backfill in Australia because it’s fast to install and easy to maintain.
For the Flying Fox operations, we supplied Victaulic pipes, valves, couplings, and accessories. We assembled and tagged the package in our Perth workshop and delivered everything to site ready for installation.
