Ernest Henry copper mine – Slurryflex CLX for cyclone feed
If the slurry piping you’re using is no longer working, it’s time to take a closer look at what’s going on.
Back in 2021, a maintenance planner at Ernest Henry copper-gold mine got in touch with us to replace unreliable rubber-lined steel spools in their cyclone feed.
Cyclone feeds are notoriously fast wearing. When you combine tight bends and direction changes with abrasive and turbulent slurry, it creates a perfect storm of wear and pipe failures.
Rubber-lined steel spools wear quicker under these conditions. Often, you’ll get localised wear points on the outer arcs of the bends, which leads to blowouts.
We reviewed their piping and suggested they add flexibility, impact absorption and a more durable wear liner.
They selected Slurryflex CLX ceramic lined mining hose. Rubber mining hose can absorb impact abrasion better than rubber-lined steel.
The ceramic tiles—which are vulcanised into the hose liner – give you more wear resistance.
Plus, flexibility makes it easier to install and remove during planned shuts, saving time and labour costs.
