DeGrussa Copper Mine – Valve and SPI Package for New Paste Backfill Plant
In 2017 Sandfire Resources built a new paste backfill plant to upgrade their DeGrussa copper mine in Western Australia. The plant uses tailings from the underground mine mixed with concrete to make a paste which is then used for construction and backfill operations.
GR Engineering and contractor Interquip engaged us to provide the valve and Special Piping Items (SPI) packages for the new plant. This included a range of valves as well as mining hose, Straub couplings, bursting discs, orifice plates and expansion joints. We assembled, tested, and tagged the valves and SPI package at our Perth workshop and delivered them to site.
GR Engineering completed the project on schedule and within budget, delivering a successful upgrade to the mine.
