Cloudbreak Iron Ore Mine – Valve Spec Review for Dewatering Program

FMG runs one of the largest dewatering programs in the southern hemisphere across the Cloudbreak, Christmas Creek and Solomon sites. In 2012, they approached us to review and develop new specifications for the valves used in its orebody dewatering program. Super saline water at the site meant the valves had to withstand the more difficult pumping conditions.

We worked with FMG to upgrade the specifications from nylon-coated wetted disc to a super duplex disc and stem. This significantly increased valve life and reduced wear and unexpected breakdowns. We also supplied a manual valve package for the site. These were assembled and tested at our Perth valve workshop and backed up with technical advice during the installation phase.
