Cloudbreak Iron Ore Mine – Fast Turnaround for Urgent Pit Dewatering

In 2010, when the Pilbara wet season hit FMG Cloudbreak’s iron ore mine, the team needed urgent help to dewater the mining pit. The site was forced to stop production until the water was removed from the pit. This was causing significant lost production time and throughput.

We worked with the team to build 55, DN200, high pressure, lay flat hose assemblies with Victaulic flanges. We designed the hoses for fast deployment from trucks and made sure they connected quickly for pumping over distance.

We delivered the hoses onsite within a week and they were deployed by the maintenance team within hours. This allowed the site to keep operating despite the heavy rain.

The site has now moved to using bores to dewater the pit, but the quick deployment system is still used for short-term dewatering projects.
