Six months wear life for cyclone underflow piping isn’t too bad.
But what if you could triple it?
One of the mechanical engineers at the Anagold Çöpler gold mine in east-central Türkiye has managed to do just that.
Gold plant operators must constantly be vigilant with highly abrasive slurry to keep the plant running smoothly.
Because of the highly corrosive and abrasive slurry applications, they’re always looking at new ways to get more out of their slurry pipework.
Initially they were using Slurryflex mining hose, a hard-wall mining hose for tough slurry conditions.
It was working well to reach the half-yearly shuts. But the mechanical engineer was keen to see if he could push this out even further.
After consulting with our piping specialists and reviewing all the options, they chose Slurryflex CLX ceramic-lined mining hose, which is custom-manufactured in Brisbane, Australia.
With Slurryflex CLX, they get the flexibility of a rubber mining hose with the extra durability of ceramic tiles embedded into the hose liner.
According to the mechanical engineer, the results speak for themselves.
“Before [we installed] ceramic-lined mining hose, the hose was changed every six months,” he said.
“After installing ceramic-lined hose, we haven’t changed the upper hose for well over a year.”
This small change has allowed them to run the hoses for longer in a set-and-forget approach. It’s working so well that they’ve decided to optimise the cyclone feed piping and other areas of the plant too.
