Akyem Gold Mine – Valve and SPI Packages for New Processing Plant

In 2011, Newmont engaged Lycopodium to construct a new processing plant at the Akyem gold mine in Ghana.

We worked with Lycopodium’s project engineers to undertake a full valve specification review to ensure the right valves were selected.

Following the review, we compiled a custom manual valve package, Special Piping Items (SPI) package, and a full spares catalogue for the plant.

Our Perth workshop assembled, tested and labelled all the valves and items ready for installation. We built custom packaging to reduce the risk of breakages during transport. Plus, we tagged all items with waterproof packing lists for easy identification.

Lycopodium successfully commissioned the plant in July 2013 and Newmont achieved commercial production on budget and on schedule.
